The city of Lincoln, California, rests at the base of the Sierra Foothills. Lincoln was named after Charles Lincoln Wilson, a transportation executive and the builder of the California Central Railroad. Lincoln's population has exploded in recent years and now has over 42,000 residents. Since the opening of the Highway 65 bypass in 2012, Lincoln is home to many new businesses making it a great place to live and do business!
Lincoln has a hot summer Mediterranean climate that is characterized by cool, wet winters and hot, dry summers. The "wet season" is generally October through April. Lincoln averages nearly 250 sunny days per year. During summer, days can become quite hot with an average high of 94 °F (34 °C) in July. Some days have even hit 104 °F (40 °C) and been known to last several weeks. Fortunately, the cooling effect of the delta breeze from the Bay Area helps bring night temperatures down to comfortable levels. Snowfall is extremely rare in Lincoln but it does happen from time to time.
Lincoln recently added a semi-pro baseball team, the Lincoln Potters, to its small town vibe. They play games at a stadium that was built at McBean Park all summer long. The Potters were sponsored by Gladding McBean, a terra cotta and clay manufacturing company located in Lincoln that replaced much of the friezes and other ornamental decorative pieces that were destroyed in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The sewer pipe and roofing tile manufacturer was founded in 1875 and still operates today as one of California's oldest companies.
Lincoln offers a small town country charm within minutes of everything! This historic downtown hosts many events, parades, farmers markets, etc. throughout the year making Lincoln a great place to live and visit.
